An acoustic curiosity from the golden age of digital imagination.
Step inside the echo chamber of mid-century sonic innovation. Versuch 2.0 is not merely a reverb. It is a laboratory — hand-built for the curious composer, the obsessive producer, the late-night Max for Live experimenter.
Inspired by Manfred Schroeder’s 1962 blueprint for “natural sounding artificial reverberation,” Versuch invites you to explore the mechanics of early digital ambience. Parallel comb filters, series all pass filters — these are your ingredients. Dial them in, and craft spaces ranging from modest reading nooks to vaulted stone cathedrals.

Device Controls

Comb Filter
On/Off: Engage the machine. Send your sound tumbling through a network of comb filters, or let it stroll unbothered around them.
Reverb Time: Adjust how long your echoes linger. A fine interplay of delay and feedback sets the mood: brief and boxy or vast and ghostly.
Filters: How many filters shall we employ? Increase the count, and your sonic room grows denser, richer, and more unpredictable.
Color: A tonal time machine: to the right, we venture into marble halls where highs shimmer indefinitely. To the left, velvet walls and warm carpets swallow them whole

All Pass Filter
On/Off: A secret hallway of reflections. Switch it open, or seal it shut.
Delay Time: Longer delays lead to gentle smears — like light filtered through cathedral glass.
Filters: Stack them like stories in a tall, crumbling mansion. Each one adds depth, unpredictability, and a touch of spectral mystery.

Mixer
Reverb Volume – How bold is the room you've built?
Reverb Pan – Where in space does it sit? Left? Right? Slightly off-center like a reclined portrait?
Width – A twist of the wrist, and the room stretches wide open.
Dry Volume – Present your original signal with humility or pride.
Dry Pan – Position it in space. We prefer it a little left of center.
Master Output – The final word. Speak it loudly or in a whisper.
